ps2recomp Turns a PS2 game ELF or disc image into a native binary. The stages are ingest, discover, lift (R5900 to IR), emit (C++), link, profile and verify. The tool and its repo are called recomp. Status As of 2026-09-30, milestones M0 to M2 have passed their gates. M3 is in progress: a software GS rasterizer that has to match the Play! emulator at SSIM 0.97 or better. The comparison tooling is done; the rasterizer is next. Only the project's own test programs have been recompiled and run (hello, kthread), on Windows 11. No game has. Coverage 98.95 to 100 percent of executed cycles are translated on the test programs and ps2sdk samples. The rest is syscalls and the interrupt return stub, which stay on the embedded interpreter. Requires An ELF or disc image you own. No BIOS, and no commercial files are bundled or used in testing. Usage recomp build game.elf --platform ps2 --target x86_64-windows
